How It All Began
Escape Towards Home is a sensitive and emotionally rich middle-grade novella for readers aged 6–12, written by a child psychologist and special education teacher. Through an engaging story and deeply relatable characters, it explores themes of belonging, identity, friendship, emotional resilience and discovering one's own strengths. Rather than offering easy answers, the story gently invites children to understand and embrace their emotions.
For the illustrations, I chose a graphic, minimalist visual style combined with a limited color palette. A vibrant yellow accent appears throughout the book as a symbolic thread, reinforcing the heroine's "sun-born" origin and bringing warmth, hope and emotional focus to the narrative.
